Introducing the new shoe and the story behind Kajang born stars.
Rico Rinaldi launched his second shoe collection available in 5 different colours such as GOLD, BRONZE GREY, GREEN, MULBERRY, and SILVER WHITE. The collection is a must have item for all type of working women, stylish entrepreneur, or even students. Comfortable yet stylish, the shoes were made in syntactic snake skin textured PVC with fine trimming using nylon hair threads. Simple and elegent compared to the first edition of the same shoes released early this year. What is really interesting about this shoe collection, Rico Rinaldi represents a story of a town called Kajang, where Rico Rinaldi was born. Located in Selangor, Malaysia. "This town means a lot to me, i was born here, raised here and started my career he in Kajang", It was very difficult for me to begin with as Kajang is definitely is not a hub for fashion in Malaysia compare to Kuala Lumpur" said Rico Rinaldi. Rico Rinaldi started in a very small studio / workshop in Kajang before moving to Bandar Baru Bangi and also having a second branch in Sri Hartamas in November, 2017. "I managed to convince my customers to come to my humble studio and prove that location isn't really an issue back then for them to get my personal touch, but for sure it struggled much as some customers were not willing to come to Kajang" said Rico.
Fashion is not just about celebrating trends, styles, colours or new silhouette, but also the people, culture and talents. In this new collection of shoes, Rico Rinaldi also presents a story of 3 strong elements in fashion. Model, photography and the designer. Under one passion, who knew that fashion has brought this 3 elements together from where they were born. In this campaign, Rico Rinaldi’s idea is to share a story and reminisce the memories of these two talents with the town they were born in, Kajang. So with this shoes collection i would like to introduce to the rest of the world about not only the shoe but the story behind the campaign. The shoes is available online or at Rico Rinaldi boutique on Plaza Damas and Bandar Baru Bangi. Available in two prices RM189 for the limited edition and RM169 for the plain version.
Rubini Sambanthan or Rubini is a Malaysian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss International Malaysia 2014 and in 2018 she is one of the top models in the Asia’s Next Top Model TV series. Born in Kajang, Rubini shared the story of her success in making her name in the modeling industry. It was not easy, slowly but surely she is making her name known not only locally but internationally. Rubini and Rico Rinaldi himself have been working together for quite a number of fashion shows and this shoe campaign is her second feature in Rico Rinaldi’s campaign. "The first time i found out about her is when i wanted a model to be in my ready to wear line called FOREVERYDAYPEOPLE by Rico Rinaldi and knowing that she’s from Kajang, i couldn't be prouder as i am also from Kajang', said Rico Rinaldi. Throughout this shoe campaign, Rubini shares her story when the crew and herself strolls trough the Kajang town to find the best places and shots for the campaign. Rubini told us that she is so proud of how much changes she saw in the development of Kajang town but the heritage in it still remains nonetheless. "The diversity and the people are amazing here, said Rubini. "The food and the humbleness of the Kajang people is something that she kept telling the rest of the crews. Doing this campaign, Rubini shares her story during her study in high school, where there wasn't any Grab or good transportation like how it is now, she had to walk trough the streets of Kajang town and took buses to go to Kuala Lumpur and even to return to her home.
Another person that is important making this shoe campaign a success is the photographer himself, Muhammad Azim bin Mahayudin or known as Azim. A fast moving name in the fashion photography, Azim is a photographer that is known for his true style and photography signature, made him one of wanted photographer in the industry now. Born in Kajang Hospital on 31st January 1993, Kajang is where he begin his career in photography. Although he left the town from 201 and came back in 2009, Azim felt so much about this little town where he should start small yet making a huge impact in his career. "I have shot for GLAM Lelaki, InTrend, Maskulin and celebrities such as Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, and recently Kaer and Amylea for the single “Tak Pernah Hilang” Azim explained that although Kajang wasn't a huge hub for fashion but people are still willing to come to his humble studio in Kajang. During the photoshoot for this shoes campaign Azim said "I like the food in Kajang as it is amelting pot of races; Malay Chinese and Indian, so you will never complain about food here!" and eventhough I did not grow up in Kajang, but over the pass years, I have had the best time developing and learning photography skills in my studio, in Kajang". Working with Azim for this campaign is not the first time for Rico Rinaldi, "We have done lot's of shoots together, from one to another I think i will be big one day!' - Rico Rinaldi
